Spring Leafing Forth

How many birds can you find? This painting was conceived and mostly painted on location at a place I enjoy, Shelby Park. It was in the bounty of spring and the birds were nesting. There was a red-shouldered hawk nest with three chicks nearby. My love of birds often my interest and curiosity about them competes with my canvas time. We are blessed with a rich natural world and Nashville, Tennessee, my home since the beginning, and Shelby Park was my first park experience. I love getting back there as it has become even more dear with many more opportunities to commune with nature with Shelby Bottoms opening in the 1990's.
